Step 1: After preparing the surface, Position the Stencil in desired position with a small piece of tape.

Step 2: Use Blue Steel Spatulas to apply Pro-Venetian Base through the Stencil. Keep a wet edge on your blade.

Step 3: Mix the following ProFaux Stonewash Pigments with water. Green, Yellow Oxide and Blue Pigments.

Step 4: Use a cellulose sponge to apply the pigments randomly as shown above

Step 5: Continue to Color "wash" the surface and allow the colors to blend together in a natural, organic way

Autumn Leaves
Autumn leaves says it all. This intriguing textural finish reminds one of a beautiful Ohio day in late October. It utilizes several products, tools and techniques used in creating other textures.

Step 1: Prime wall surface with low luster red-orange acrylic enamel. Let dry. Skim coat a thin layer of ProFaux Red Base and let dry.

Step 2: Lubricate the leaves with a mixture of one-quart warm water and two ounces of Brush Stuff with a little warm water and wipe leaves with a dampened sponge. Set aside.

Step 3: Crosshatch a semi-thin bed of Red Base to a small area. Allow Red Base to set up for 2-5 minutes. Lay a leaf into the wet surface, using the spatula to flatten out the leaf. Lift the leaf out by the stem and marvel at the beautiful impression. Reuse the other side of the leaf for another impression. Rotate and overlap the position of each leaf so that the pattern does not look too repetitious. Note: If Red Base is too wet, the leaves will suction to the Red Base, creating peaks rather than a crisp veining patterns.

Step 4: Use dampened sponge to apply Pro Faux Metallic Waxes and Iridescent Waxes. Apply two thin coats of Copper in small circles. Rinse sponge and highlight randomly with Russet and finally with Gold. Let dry 20-60 minutes..

Step 5: Mix a small amount of Stonewash Pigment - Black with water. Sponge on in circles to accentuate the leaf pattern. If it looks a little dark that's OK because the final Acrylic Clear Satin Wax will tend to lighten the overall value of the finish.

Step 6: When the Stonewash Pigment is dry, use a clean dampened sponge to apply the protective Acrylic Clear Satin Wax in small circles.

Step 1:After preparing and priming the surface, tint the Pro Toscana Base with 25% latex paint (taupe) and mix well. Use ProFaux Mixer for larger batches.

Step 2: Use two clean BLUE STEEL SPATULAS to spread out the material on the wall surface to a uniform thickness. (Use one spatula to hold the material and the other to apply it)

Step 3: Use a wallpaper smoothing brush to apply texture to wet material. Work in flowing, random patterns.

Step 4: Use Spatula, Float or other knock down tool to rid the surface of heavy peaks that may have dried.

Step 6: Delicately apply the Sienna Stonewash Pigment to the surface in random patterns until it pleases your eye.

Step 7: For wall areas, roll on a coat of Zero Gloss Varnish.

Step 1: After preparing the surface, tint the Pro-Sandstone Base Roll On Paint to the desired color with latex paint. Mix well. Roll apply with a rough nap roller. Let the surface dry for at least 2 hours.

Step 2: Use Blue Steel Spatulas to apply Pro-Sandstone Base Paste. Keep a wet edge on your blade. Create a natural looking stone effect. Let it set up, then lightly polish the surface with a damp Plastic Float.

Step 3: Mix the following ProFaux Stonewash Pigments with water. Orange, Yellow Oxide and White Pigments.

Step 4: Use a cellulose sponge to apply the pigments at random. Color "wash" the surface and allow the colors to blend together in a natural, organic way.

Step 5: Continue to use a cellulose sponge to further blend the colors to an subtle finish. Use a sanding sponge to subtract color if you wish.

Step 6: Fix the dry Stonewash colors with Zero Gloss Varnish. Apply with a roller.

This high-end designer finish is ideal for flat walls and suitable for furniture and wide moldings. Create numerous color combinations including metallic grounds with tinted spatula coats.

Prepare surface as for normal painting. Tint Pro-Sandstone Base Paste to the desired color with 25% latex paint. (One quart latex paint per gallon Pro-Sandstone) Mix well.

After preparing the basecoat, as Pro-Metallic Copper Paint above, apply 2 coats ProFaux *****le Medium with a smooth roller. Allow coats to dry before second application.

After *****le Medium dries, use two clean Blue Steel Spatulas to trowel on in uniform thickness from 1/16th to 1/8' inch thick. (Use one to hold the material, the other to apply it). Apply in a crisscross cross manner, keeping the surface to a uniform thickness. Do not over work the application.

Step 3: Continue to fill in areas, randomly. Removing the excess material with the Spatula at 45 degrees.

Step 4: Fill in the center by *****ing out the whole area. Go back and complete the missed areas with overlapping *****es. Be practical and economical with the BASE

Step 5: Lay down more at low angles to knock down the nibs along the way. This is known as "feathering". Finally, thin the BASE with a little water and "veneer" the surface using the crosshatch method.

Step 6: Burnish to the desired sheen by dragging the spatula lightly in a figure 8 pattern. Apply Acrylic Clear Satin Wax in *****work fashion for waterproofing and abrasion resistance.

After preparing a palette, Bev begins with her blue mix and paints a beginning flower petal. ("c" and "s" strokes are used.)

Because rosemaling strokes are best pulled "toward you", Bev turns her work as she paints.






With blue petals made, she switches to her red mix and adds red petals.







Petal strokes are made by pulling outward from the center, in the direction a flower "grows".







Changing to her yellow mix, side-loaded in blue, Bev adds to her







Additional, smaller red and blue petals are added to the flower.







With a dark mix, a center, or "base" is added to the flower.








From this center, Bev paints a stem.







Linework is used to "outline" the flower petals.







Additional linework is added to embelish the flower.
