Homemade

Homemade is about nature and the environment surrounding us. Use of browns and greens to create an almost "outside in feel" Contrast the browns and greens with creams and off whites. texture is a key part of Homemade as different types of materials can be used for an added effect. Consider black and white or sepia photos for this interior, maybe even of your local area.

This is the style for people who are not interested in modern and contemporary interior styles. Its more of a cottage theme than inner city flat but works well with alot of homes.



Colours

The colours involved in "Homemade" are all taken from nature and our surrounding enviroment. There's not so many bright and bold colours here, just soft shades of brown and greens. Clay colours work well for some intensity. Avoid pure white and use off whites like cream as a base colour, and avoid contrasting colours, this is more of a blended interior.
As you can see from the colour palette below, the browns and greens are predominant, but there are also some Gray and pink in there too so your not totally restricted on colours. Over use of grey can result an a gloomy interior, so try and use minimally.For artwork, look into sepia and black and white photo images on canvas for a true focal point.

"Homemade" is inspired by nature and the environment. Furniture should be wood based and preferably antique, however, if your on a budget some pine is fine, but you must stain to make darker. Your not going to find metal framed glass topped coffee tables in here.
As "Homemade" is influenced by your surrounding environment, try and pick colours that are local to you. Get out into your local fields and woods to get some inspiration. For example, near us is a wood with massive numbers of amazing bluebells which have such an intense colour. This would make a fabulous choice for say curtains or carpet in a living room. Take a camera and consider getting your local area re=produced as a canvas print for a truly unique interior.
