Mirrors on Dressers

Even if you don't need a mirror to get ready in your bedroom, you still may want to consider bringing in a piece with a large mirror. Just like when you place a large mirror on a wall, a mirror on a dresser can make a small space look big.

Place the dresser across from a window with a scenic view and you can bring the outside in. Or place it across from another open space and the reflection will make the room appear larger than it is.

Lastly, don't forget to put large vases or other arrangements in front of your dresser mirror. The reflection of one or two well-chosen pieces will reflect back in the mirror and heighten the feeling of "big" in the room

Mirrors in Cabinets

If you're buying cabinets or other storage pieces, consider buying them with mirrors in the back of the cases or on the front doors. Once again, the reflections from these pieces will create a depth in the room when you don't have wall space to hang a mirror.

Even if you can't find a cabinet, etagere or shelving unit you like with a mirrored back, you can still make one yourself. Simply measure the back wall spaces of your furniture and have a local glass house cut pieces you can glue into the unit. You'll be amazed how much that small mirrored area can open up your room

When you don't have space for a wall mirror, you can still use mirrors to make a small room look bigger. Look for tables or chests that are constructed totally in mirrored surfaces for maximum impact. Even the reflection off of smaller furniture pieces will help your open up the room.

Using mirror furniture pieces to open up a room is a subtle trick that gives you more options in decorating a small space. Bring in a piece and increase the visual size of your room
