خطوات عمل استنسل بباشكال ارزه










Step 1

This background uses the same colors and texture materials feature in our Red Pompeiian Plaster Royal Recipe. There are two layers of the blue tinted-Plastertex/Venetian Plaster mix, followed by a tight skim coat of untinted Venetian Plaster.





Step 2

Stencil the Entwined stencil pattern with a light, even coat of Earth Brown Aquacolor.

Shift the stencil up and to the right (diagonal) for the next step to create a drop-shadow effect.





Step 3

Use a Japan Blade with short strokes and light pressure to build up and create some high and low areas with the plaster. Hold the blade at a flat (perpendicular) angle to the surface. This will help to prevent material from seeping under the edges of the design.

Step 4

Tint some Aquacreme with Earth Brown Aquacolor. Brush over surface with a chip brush (or other). Soften and blend as you go with a rag.

Let dry.




Step 5

Use a medium-grit sanding block to lightly sand back through the glaze. The sanding should only occur on the "high" spots, rendering them whiter than the recessed areas.

Step 1

Stencil the entire design with an even, medium value of burnt umber thinned slightly with Extender.

Note: To achieve this yellow glazed background, use latex glazes of Ben Moore Aquapearl HC 41 and HC74 over a basecoat of HC8.








Step 2

Shift the stencil from its original position up and to the left a distance of just under 1/8". Do not turn or twist the stencil, simply shift it up as one.


The amount of yellow background that you see exposed here will be equal to the amount of "shadow" that will be seen when the next step is completed. For repeated designs, always shift the stencil in the same direction and the same distance.











Step 3

Load a Flexible Smoother Blade with a small amount of Venetian Gem Tint Base. Apply the medium to the surface by laying it flat (as if icing a warm cake) and then changing the blade to a more perpendicular angle to remove excess material from the center portions of the design areas. Note: The Venetian Gem can be substituted with Golden Hard Molding Paste, but it must be further tinted with white or off-white acrylic, as it dries too translucent otherwise.





Step 4

This detail photo shows the proper technique completed. Note that the material is still quite heavy around the edges, but has been removed to create a more translucent effect in the center areas. It is important to use the right tool for this technique! The Flexible Smoother Blade is made from a soft plastic that flexes, and it's round edges help to eliminate ridges in your embossing.
